I went to a Picasso exhibit, and there were some preliminary sketches that he made for one of his famous paintings. They started with a complete drawing of a woman, and each of the succeeding 200 drawings subtracted elements of this person until she finally is represented by just a few essential lines.

The Bencich Award for our 2010-2011 season was won by Nancy Andrews for her script 'Night Of Moon'. The Bencich Award is given to the best new script in a Playwrights Workshop production for the season. 'Night Of Moon' was performed in our March 2011 production. The other finaists for the Bench Award were Mike Roy for 'A Real Love Story' and Betty Prisendorf for 'Don't Break A Leg'. This is Nancy's second Bencich, having won last year for the play 'Red Eye'.
The Bencich Award finalists are the plays that had the top three average audience scores from the three productions in the season. These three plays are then performed in a reading. A panel of three theater experts then determines the winner. The panel is seleccted from people who had not seen the finalist plays in the prodictions and are unrealated to the authors, actors, or directors.
Congratulations to our authors, directors, actors, the organizers and all the unsung heros backstage for a successful third production and our 2010-2011 season! A super big thank you goes to Surfside Playhouse for hosting our productions!
