FIRST MEETING OF THE 2010-2011 SEASON: 3pm, 28 Aug (Sat), Cocoa Library
Playwrights Workshop will have their first meeting of the 2010-2011 season at 3 pm on 28 August (Saturday) in Meeting Room-1 of the Cocoa Library. We will read the latest script from Nancy Andrews, 'Night Of Moon'. We will also discuss plans for our upcoming production in late October.
Playwrights Workshop is now on summer break. The first meeting of our 2010-2011 season is tentatively schedules for 28 August 2010 (Saturday) at 3:00 pm in the Cocoa Library. Stay tuned for further updates.
Congratulatins to Nancy Andrews! Her script, 'Red Eye', won the 2009-2010 season Bencich Award for best new script. 'Red Eye' was performed in our February production and also won the highest audience score for the season. Ironically, 'Red Eye' was about an author winning a playwright competition. Nancy Andrews also wrote 'The Red Are Running', which was performed in the May production.
The Playwrights Workshop held their last meeting of the 2009-2010 season on 22 May 2010 at 3:00 pm at the Cocoa Library. The results of the May production were discussed. The audience scores of the plays were as follows.

Finally, a new script by Janet Bentley-Hallberg, 'Guns And Ammunition', was read and approved for a future production, probably in February 2011.
The May meeting of Playwrights Workshop will be Saturday, 22 May 2010 at 3:00 pm in the Cocoa Library. We will read a new script by Janet Bentley-Hallberg, 'Guns And Ammunition' (it's not what you think, trust me!). We will review the results of the May production, announce the finalist for the Bencich Award, and discuss other activities to end the 2009-2010 season. Break a leg!

The next meeting of Playwrights Workshop is Saturday, 24 April, 3:00 pm in the Cocoa Library. A new script is not yet available to be read, but two scripts are close to being ready so check back in case a reading is scheduled.
The Playwrights Workshop met on 20 March at 3:00 pm. The new script 'A True Love Story' by Mike Roy was read and approved for production. This play will likwly be produced in the late October 2010 production (earlier than our normal early November production). Troy announced that all our 2010-2011 season productions will be at the Surfside Theater.
The February production of Playwrights Workshop was a success. We had 283 ticket sales, a near record, and 221 scoresheets for the authors to review. Congratulations to our authors for their well received plays. The plays received the following average scores from the audience.

The next meeting of Playwrights Workshop is 3:00 pm, 20 March (Sat) at the Cocoa Library (1 week earlier than normal). We will discuss the results of our February production. *** updated 19 Mar *** We will read a new script from Mike Roy, 'A Real Love Story'.
The Playwrights Workshop meet on 20 Feb, a week earlier than usual to avoid having a meeting during the production. A new script by Betty Prisendorf was read, 'Unexpected Consequences'. This script was approved for production and will likely be scheduled for our November production since our May production is already full.
