Really, you dont know what the plays are about until you have written them. They will tell you what theyre about.

BENCICH AWARD -- JUDITH BATE FOR 'THE WAYWARD EMAIL'
Congratulations to Judith Bate, the winner of the annual John D. Bencich Award for the 2008-2009 season for her play 'The Wayward Email'! The Bencich award is given annually to honor the best new script produced by Playwrights Workshop. The finalist are chosen from the top three plays based on audience scores throughout the November to May production season. These top three plays are then read at the end of season Playread competition. A panel of three theater experts then selects the winner of the Bencich award. Besides Judy's play, the other two finalists were 'All That Glitters' by Betty Prisendorf and 'Happy New Year' by William Roeder. Special thanks to Surfside Playhouse for allowing us to use their theater for the Playread on 20 June.
The next meeting of Playwrights Workshop will be 30 May 09 (Saturday) at 3:00 pm at Cocoa Library. This is the last meeting of our 2008-2009 season.
We will discuss the results of our May production and plans for the Read-Off. If a new script becomes available, we will also have a reading. New 1-act scripts are eagerly requested.
Congratulations to the authors who are the finalists for the Bencich Award for best new script in our 2008-2009 season.
